Reddit marketing costs between roughly $3,000 and $10,000 per month for a serious agency program in 2026, with cheap engagement sellers under $500 a month at one end and enterprise community programs past $15,000 at the other. Ads are separate: Reddit's auction has no meaningful entry barrier, and as of August 2026 Reddit offers new advertisers $500 in ad credit after spending their first $50. Do it yourself and the cash cost is near zero while the time cost is very real.
Those are three different products wearing one name. Most pricing confusion on Reddit marketing comes from comparing a quote for one against a quote for another. So let's price each lane honestly, including the one where you pay us nothing.
Why Reddit Costs What It Costs
First, why anyone pays at all. Reddit karma can't be bought credibly, subreddit rules differ wildly, and moderators ban commercial accounts without appeal. The actual work behind a legitimate program is slow: aged accounts with real posting history, threads found while they're still answerable, replies written in the register of each community, and monitoring so you hear about a brand mention before it hardens into the top answer. None of that automates well. That's the cost driver.
The reason the work got more valuable is what AI engines did with Reddit. Run 25 buying prompts through four AI engines for a month, which is exactly what our tracker does, and reddit.com comes back in 35.3% of the 3,075 answers. No other source comes close. When a thread praises you, AI engines repeat it for months. When a thread trashes you, same. We wrote up the mechanics in our study of how LLMs use Reddit.
Lane One:
Do It Yourself, Pay in Time
The DIY price is your hours. Realistically, one competent person spending several hours a week can maintain a presence in a handful of subreddits: answering questions where the brand legitimately helps, following the 90/10 rule, building karma slowly. Our guide to Reddit marketing without getting banned covers the method, free.
The verdict on DIY: right for founders early on, and the cheapest way to learn how your market actually talks. The hidden cost shows up at scale. An account that answers twenty threads a month needs history, and a banned account takes its history with it. Budget zero dollars and one wince.
Lane Two:
Agencies, $3,000 to $10,000+ a Month
Almost nobody in this market publishes prices, which tells you something on its own. (The four vetting questions from our LLM marketing agency guide work just as well here.) From what we see in deals and directories, credible retainers cluster between $3,000 and $10,000 monthly depending on thread volume, monitoring depth, and how competitive the subreddits are. Treat any specific number you hear, including these, as a quote to verify in writing.
We'll publish ours, since someone should. Reddit-native amplification is built into every Red-engage tier: basic placements at $4,500 a month, the full program at $7,000, and Reddit plus PR at $14,000, always packaged with the GEO work rather than sold as loose upvotes. Full breakdown on our services page. Why packaged? Because a Reddit thread that AI engines cite is worth more than one that just sits there, and engineering both takes one team, not two vendors pointing at each other.
What moves an agency quote up: more subreddits, contested categories where competitors already work the threads, brand monitoring with response SLAs, and reporting that ties threads to AI citations rather than upvote counts. What should move it down: fewer threads with a tighter target list. A quote that doesn't change when scope changes is a subscription, and probably a template.
Lane Three:
Reddit Ads, Priced by Auction
Paid is the one lane with official pricing mechanics. Reddit Ads run on an auction where you set your own budget, and the current new-advertiser offer (checked August 26, 2026 on Reddit's business site) credits you $500 after your first $50 in spend. That makes testing near-free.
Our take: ads are useful for reach and retargeting, and the wrong tool for the thing most B2B buyers come to Reddit for. A promoted post is labeled as one. The threads AI engines cite, and the ones buyers screenshot into Slack, are organic. Run ads as a complement, never as the substitute.
Red Flags at Both Ends of the Market
At the cheap end: anyone selling upvotes, "guaranteed positive threads," or engagement packages under $500 a month. Reddit has gotten aggressive about inauthentic account behavior, and vote manipulation violates its rules outright. A banned thread doesn't just fail, it can take the account network and your brand's standing in that subreddit with it. Cheap Reddit marketing is the most expensive kind.
At the expensive end: five-figure retainers with no stated method, no thread-level reporting, and no answer to "what happens when a mod removes a post?" Price is not the tell. The tell is whether they'll show you the threads.
And at every price point, one question worth asking: does the vendor measure Reddit's effect where it now matters most, inside AI answers? A thread that ranks in Google, gets cited by ChatGPT, and keeps answering the question for eighteen months is a different asset from a spike of upvotes on launch day. If the report can't tell those apart, you're buying the spike.
Common Questions
What does a single Reddit campaign cost? Project-based work exists, typically a few thousand dollars for a defined push like a launch or a review-thread cleanup. Most of the value compounds over months though, which is why the market runs on retainers. A one-month test tells you how an agency works, and very little about what Reddit can do for you.
Is Reddit marketing worth it for B2B? In our tracking it's the single most present source in AI answers to agency-selection questions, at 35.3% of 3,075 responses over 30 days. Your category will differ, so check what sources AI engines cite for your own buying prompts before spending. That check is part of any decent audit, including ours.
